Investments in the construction of factories producing semiconductors in Japan are provided for by an additional package of the state budget for this fiscal year in the amount of about 600 billion yen. For example, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing will receive 400 billion yen under this program for the construction of an enterprise on Japanese territory. It also provides for the investment of other companies creating similar enterprises in Japan. Among them are the American corporation Micron Technology and the Japanese firm Kioxia Holding. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said last month that semiconductor manufacturers can count on government financial support. This area of production is very important against the background of the ongoing global shortage of semiconductor products, the losses from which are borne by manufacturers of cars, smartphones and household appliances. The Taiwanese company Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing intends to begin construction of a plant in Japan next year, planning to launch production at it in 2024.
