THE CENTRAL BANK OF JAPAN KEPT THE RATE AT MINUS 0.1%
In Japan, the next meeting of the Central Bank was held. Eight of the nine board members voted to keep the key rate at the current level of minus 0.1%. It was introduced more than five years ago. The Bank of Japan did not make any changes to its DCT. He intends to continue buying government bonds in unlimited quantities. The regulator also does not abandon its plans to target the zero level of government bond yields.
The Central Bank of Japan announced the extension until September of the program, which provides for the purchase of commercial securities and corporate bonds. The total amount of the ransom can reach 20 trillion yen. In a statement, the Central Bank said that the regulator does not yet see an opportunity to raise the rate. In the long term, it will remain at the current level or may be lowered. Today, data on the dynamics of consumer prices in Japan were also published. In February, they declined by 0.4% year-on-year. In January, deflation in the country was 0.6%.
